No better way to start a blog than with a bang and I am doing just that by taking a road trip. Despite living in Texas for over a decade, I had never been to Corpus Christi--had being the operative word. Today I got to go for the first time for a mini-vacation before school starts to help my boyfriend look for a place to live. I loved every moment so far!

We started with a delightful drive where I got to share a somewhat vulnerable truth that playlists are my love language. I love getting to hear songs from people's lives that mean a lot to them and the memories certain songs elicit. I think that that it helps people connect on a deeper level to one another because it is a safe entry point the good, bad, and ugly stories we are desperate to share. The best song that everyone should go and really listen to is "First in Flight" by Don McCloskey if you need a good pump up jam. We then drove around and looked at the apartments in area that he had found online. Corpus has a lot of cute neighborhoods!

Because he loves me and spoils me more than I deserve, he got us a really cool place to stay over the next few days that is close to the water. We were able to walk around on the beach and in just unwind.

I learned something new, also, which is that many types of birds (aka not just geese) fly in a V-formation. These are the types of important lessons I hope to bring to my students (just kidding if anyone from my school ever reads this).

For anyone who is ever in Corpus Christi, try Surfside Sandwich Shoppe and sit inside. Not only was it delicious food, but sitting close to the bar and checkout helped to really feel like locals and get the good gossip. We each tried different types of seafood tacos. My boyfriend got ones with shrimp, but he is extra healthy so wished that it didn't have tortillas. What a weirdo! My sesame tuna tacos were a thing of beauty and I would change nothing. We split their jalapeño popper soup which was incredible and basically like eating a bowl of queso. We will definitely be going back someday!

We wrapped up the day with a stroll on the beach to dip our toes in the water. I can safely say that I think we are really going to like it here. My first adventuring attempt has been such a success!

Love you big,

Adelaide
